Why aren't we human?

A recent article in a newspaper found out the reason behind the short temper prevalent in people so much to the case that they are not only just giving their fellow citizens tongue lashings but also physical assault.

It is a well known fact that temper ruins more things than fixing it. But we hardly care about it. When a person is born, he often bangs into things that really irritate him and depending on the ability to hold on to the same; he sometimes ends up making things worse.

There was an article that was recently published in the newspaper that some unknown assailants stabbed a cook to death at a hotel as he had not served ‘papaad’. Another article said that a shop owner was set on fire by a man over Rs 100 phone recharge which he refused to do on credit (udhaar) which was a frequent phenomenon.

There was one more story published the other day which said that a 14 year old boy killed a nine-year-old girl for an I-pod in a West Bengal town. Besides these usual stories that have grabbed space in the newspaper, there are still many that we usually see: like people fighting on streets if they accidentally bang into other person’s vehicle trying to reach office early.

It is really hard to understand as to why people have lost their patience over a period time. What is the ultimate thing that is actually making them do things that are not only morally unacceptable but also a crime? It is really hard to find what tensions actually helps things blow up. We cannot find things going the way we want them to and in this frustration we end up banging into people coming our way. Why can’t we just keep our frustrations aside instead of gifting them to people coming our way?

A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one. It is really a pity that we fail to accept the common human error and instead of making things right we tend to blow them. It is like an infectious disease that is killing the very basic requirement of being a human. There is a steep decline in our social dispensation.

If you take my opinion, i would say, humans are the worst species on this planet. Animals kill each other for the basic reason of food or defense.

Humans kill each for greed. They not only hurt others physically but don't even leave a chance to shatter the weaker person mentally, emotionally.

Thanks for agreeing Chandni...I agree that we hurt for greed and for self satisfaction. Our happiness is solely ours and we r nt bothered whether v r hurt or not.

But God nvr made us lyk ds..Wd d passage f tym we are actually turning into beasts.

People lose their temper quite often due to 1. Impatience, 2. Ego

Both the factors contribute to one's inhuman behavior.

Agreed Michael.. Though I don’t want to blame technology for our repurcurssion, yet it is one of the major factors that has made us intolerable. We live in pizza-burger world where everything you want has to be instant and hence we turn into impatient lot.

We are yet to see a world where people live in harmony and respect with each other.

The "I, Me, Myself" factor is behind all the quarrels in the world.

I agree with both of you Shane and Nitesh. There is a disproportion of people who want to make it better and others who don’t.

There are lots of instances where perfectly normal people lose their cool because what is normally expected doesn’t happen. Their impatience rises when they observe a gap between what is expected and what actually turns out.

Like an extremely slow clerk behind a train ticket window perfectly oblivious to the fact that there are a 100 people waiting and losing time.

Like you enter a movie theatre with your family and discover that another family has been allotted exactly the same seats as yours.

Like you are waiting for the cab to take you on an international flight and the cabbie reports 30 minutes late and casually blames it on the traffic. You have to get to the airport using the same congested roads.

Irritation and impatience arises not just because of the person getting irritated, but because of people not meeting expected standards or not meeting/keeping their commitments.

We often look at only the irritated person, but the real culprit may actually be the person standing alongside and feigning to be victim.

Wonderfully described Anto. I think the tendency of ours that why should we suffer because of others is the main culprit. Most of the time it is right but blaming those who might not be directly associated to it is inhuman. Take for this simple example- Fighting with the local fruit and vegetable vendor for the price hike to which he is directly not responsible. Prices are obviously going to shoot as of drought or flood. He will be selling it at price at which he might be getting.

This kind of quick to anger and mindless violence happens all over the world.

I think much has to do with the lack of spirituality in our lives, these days. As we move from a spiritual base to a material base we lose sight of what’s right and wrong. It’s easy to act out, when we have no concept of what our actions will reap.

If we address all issues with ”Hurt Never Help Ever” attitude things are likely to change for better.
